Beta carotene for all industry needs
Chr. Hansen’s beta carotene comes in both liquids and powders and is suitable for all pH conditions. It has good heat and light stability. Chr. Hansen offers a range of low-concentration beta carotene solutions, including both water- and oil-soluble formulations. They are especially suitable for use in processes where high-density products or powders may cause production problems. Recently, Chr. Hansen has introduced a number of highly concentrated powder solutions with some unique shades, such as for beverages. Go here to read more about beverages.
Chr. Hansen’s carotenoids come in oil-soluble forms suitable for yellow fats and bakery products. We also have water soluble macroemulsions suitable for confectionery, ice cream, dairy and juice drinks. Our water-soluble microemulsions are suitable for transparent beverages and confectionery.
Alternative natural carotenes
Commercially available beta carotene can come from both natural and nature-identical sources. Although most of the beta carotene used in the food and beverage industries today are produced by synthesis (nature-identical), there are several natural sources available, which are increasingly used to replace the nature-identical variant. Natural beta carotene sources include algae, fungi or palm fruit oil.
